Have you ever thought about the things that are lying around your house that could be recycled and save you money? In this article we will share ten tips that can help you out.
- Instead of going to the store and buying one of an item you could bulk buy. When you buy wholesale you actually save money. Obviously make sure it’s not things that will go off or past its sell by date before you get round to eating it! But Tesco in the UK, have introduced a ‘buy one, get one free later’ promotion. This is great as you are bulk buying, it’s cheaper, and your produce remains fresh!
- Why not make your food from scratch? Do not use prepackaged foods. These are much more expensive and also not as good for you.
- You know those HEPA filters that are on your air purifiers and vacuums take them off and wash them. Do not run out and buy new ones when they get dirty. They can be used again. Wash them out and let them dry and they are good to go.
- More tips would be to repair household appliances when they break down. Sure, we all love new things, but why waste good money on something if the old can be fixed for a fraction of the price?
- Look around your house. Is there anything you can recycle? Many companies offer cash for your phone. Some pay out double figures! Have a look in your drawer; have you got last year’s mobile collecting dust?
- When you have finished with your tubs of margarine or eaten all the biscuits from the biscuit tin you bought, give them a wash and use them as Tupperware to store leftovers.
- When you or a family member rips something on their clothes try learning to sew them instead of rushing out to buy new ones.
- Buying concentrated juice, the cordial kind. Yes, you will have to make it yourself but it is much cheaper. And quite frankly you are drinking more water as a result!
- Trust me when I ask this…why do you use body wash? Surely a bar of soap does the same trick and lasts longer? : )
- And last but not least do not run out and buy batteries every time your remote control or other device stops working. Use rechargeable batteries in the first place, yes I know they are more expensive to buy first time round, but then you won’t have to think about replacing them and recycling for a very long time!
So here you go, some tips to save around the house, I’m sure there’s more, why not comment and let us know!
